Fees & medical aids

Working with your medical aid.

Our practice submits claims directly to all major South African medical schemes. Below is information on billing rates, PMB conditions and self-payment options.

How we bill

South Coast Physician & Rheumatology Centre bills at scheme rates for most administrators, and at private rates where sub-specialist consultation is required. Where there is a scheme co-payment, you are responsible for the shortfall on the day of consultation.

Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMB)

Many rheumatic and chronic medical conditions we treat qualify as PMB conditions — including rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, systemic vasculitis, diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Where PMB applies, your medical aid is required by law to fund care in full, subject to registration on their chronic programme. Our reception can assist with the application.

Self-paying patients

Patients without medical aid cover are welcome. Reception will provide a written quotation before your appointment. Payment is settled on the day by card, EFT or cash.
